After years of making homemade syrup with extracts, I found that this works and tastes so good. I would love real maple syrup, but I cannot justify the cost. I also do not like buying the store brand imitation maple syrup because it seems to always contain high fructose corn syrup.
Jump to RecipeHow to use this homemade syrup?
We love it on top of Belgian waffles, pancakes, and French toast. You can also use it in any recipes that call for maple syrup. I always have extra, so I store it in the refrigerator in a glass dispenser. Then when I need it again, I take off the dispenser lid and heat it up in our microwave for a minute. And poof! The syrup is hot again, and I just reattach the lid and put it on the table (on a small bowl or plate to catch the drips).
How do you make DYI Maple Syrup?
It is easy! You add everything into a small sause pan and simmer until all of the sugar is dissolved. Then pour into a serving dispenser and serve over your favorite pancakes, waffles, or french toast warm.
